Pair of Blue & White Spode Plates 'Death of the Bear'

A very desirable pair of Regency period blue and white plates. This attractive pair of antique Spode plates have the imprest mark 'Spode 28' and 'Spode, Death of the Bear' in capitals. The other plate has the imprest mark 'Spode 30' and 'Spode' in capitals. The central scene on these antique Staffordshire blue and white plates shows hunters on hunters on horseback and on elephants with dogs. This dramatic scene is surrounded by a border of birds, tigers and wild boar in a rocky landscape. The condition of both plates is excellent and the colour a good mid blue. This beautiful pair of antique Staffordshire blue and white transfer plates from the renowned Spode pottery are ready to make a decorative display on a dresser or in a cabinet and would be a lovely addition to any blue and white collection.
