Regency Carved Giltwood Convex Mirror
An excellent carved giltwood convex mirror dating from the Regency period. This good sized antique mirror is surmounted with a boldly carved eagle with outstretched wings which rest on exquisitely carved decorative scrolls. The base of the frame is decorated with fluting and foliage, balancing the pediment. The original convex mercury mirror plate is surrounded by an ebonised reeded slip. Over the years, the glass mirror plate has acquired a very attractive soft dappled effect, whilst retaining the reflective qualities of the mirror (please see the photographs) The general condition of the mirror is very good. This very high quality early 19th Century convex mirror is ready to hang and add Regency style and elegance to any interior.
