18th Century Imari Vase with Domed Cover

A splendid early 18th Century Japanese Imari vase and domed cover with a Komainu finial. This antique Japanese vase from the Edo period, has four lobed reserves, each painted with foliage and chrysanthemums, the national flower of Japan. The ground is profusely decorated with further flowers and C and S scrolls in under glaze blue and over glaze iron red and gilt. The domed cover has a distinctive iron red Komainu finial.  The condition of this antique Imari vase is very good with no chips and the surface decoration is in good condition. There is a firing crack to the domed cover which can be seen in the photographs, this does not effect the appearance of this outstanding piece of ceramic art. A rare early 18th Century Japanese vase and cover, ready to display in any setting as a fabulous focal point.
