Victorian Lacquered Bamboo Sewing Table
A charming Victorian oriental style display table or a sewing box, this unusual little table combines both. Decorated in the Japanese taste with a lacquered top and side panels depicting birds, butterflies and blossom, this antique table has a fall front which opens to form a shelf. Standing on splayed bamboo legs with an attractive trellis design lower shelf, this is a very decorative and useful piece of antique occasional furniture. The hinged top opens to reveal a traditional Victorian sewing box, quilted in the original green satin with a yellow satin trim. The table is in good stable condition, with the bamboo structurally sound and no loose joints. There is some wear to the side panels as shown in the photographs. This delightful piece of Victoriana would make an unusual gift or add an element of fun and individuality to any interior scheme.
